Adele and Emma looked like a really nice and happy couple during the first half of the movie. Emma and Adele growing apart is what I hate about chapter 2. Emma could have gotten up and danced with Adele when they had their party instead of talking to Lise. That's what I would have done if I were her. The reason Adele had the affair is because she was feeling lonely and Emma wasn't paying much attention to her. When one of Emma's friends at the art exhibit is saying she loves Adele's blue dress, I said "Well blue is the warmest color" when I first watched the film. I still think that when she says that line. The ending made me feel both sad and angry at the same time because I felt sorry for Adele, but I wouldn't describe it as a sad ending. Judging by look on Adele's face she's probably thinking "O well" in the upsetting way. So to me it feels like it's just a plain ending. The lesbian sexuality is one of the strongest themes of the film. The camera would shoot full body nudity during the sexual scenes and I was like WOW!! The first sex scene with Adele and Emma was about 7 minutes long. Never before have I seen that in a film and I probably will never see it in any other film. Even though "Blue is the Warmest Color" didn't have a happy ending, I think it's a great romance film and I love it.

Awards

Well the film wasn't nominated for any oscars but it did win the Palme d'Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. It was nominated for the Best Foreign Film Award at the Critics Choice, Golden Globe and the BAFTAs. It lost the Golden Globe and BAFTA to "The Great Beauty" but won the Critics Choice Award. Adele Exarchopoulos won the Critics Choice Award for Best Young Actor or Actress. It also won the Independent Spirit Award for Best International Film. I wanted the awards to go to Blue is the Warmest Color even though I hadn't seen the film yet at the time. But I did get to see it before the BAFTAs so then it had my full support.

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg who is also President of Cannes Jury said "Magnificent...we were under the spell of the film and it's wonderful actresses." The performances by Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos are amazing. To be in a film like this with that kind of nudity and those kind of sex scenes takes a lot of guts!!

Lea Seydoux

I already knew Lea Seydoux from movies like Midnight in Paris and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. When I saw her face on the images on "Suicide Blonde", I recognized her right away. Lea Seydoux was the supporting actress, but at the same time she was one of the 2 main characters in Blue is the Warmest Color. I really liked her character during the first half of the movie when she was more fun and had blue hair. After that she was serious. I read an article saying Blue is the Warmest Color made Lea question her sexuality.

Adele Exarchopoulos

It's funny how some actors can play characters with there first name. You know, Adele Exarchopoulos plays a character named Adele. Adele was 19 when this movie was made and one of the things I love is the expression and emotion she brought into this character she played. It also amazes me how her character starts off as a teenager and then later is an adult.

Music Blaine: It has a silent background. There is music, just not a music score. You hear the music in the bar and at the parade. I love listening to these songs they put in the film "Live for Today, Feel it Now, On lâche rien, Halcyon Daze, Epic, New Zombie, I Follow Rivers and Something".
